Just in case time has passed you quicker than you realised, be aware that the National Minimum Wage Increase October 2016 is almost upon us.

National Minimum Wage Increase October 2016

The annual national minimum wage increase will no longer become effective from October now that we have the National Living Wage (be careful not to get the two confused).  Any increases to both the National Minimum Wage and the National Living Wage will take place in April and will be effective from next year,  2017.

Unchanged Rates

Workers over 25 remain on the national living wage of £7.20 per hour (This remains unchanged from its introduction on 1st April 2016)

New Rates

Workers aged 21 – 24 inclusive – £6.95 per hour

Workers aged 18 – 20 inclusive – £5.55 per hour

Workers aged under 18 who are no longer of compulsory school age – £4.00 per hour

Apprentices aged under 19, or aged 19 or over and in their first year of an apprenticeship – £3.40 per hour
